Hike towards Hekla
On the Hike towards Helka we ventured through extreamly wide open spaces far far away from civilization. It was a gradual uphill crossing mountains and long valleies. There were many stream crossings but not to many major ones. The ground was covered with moss and small tundra like flowers. Moss is as prevelent as grass is in America. Aside from the moss the ground is covered with rocks ranging from pebbles to an ocasional boulder. As we got closer to Helka the rocks became more and more volcano like.
